New dedicated EV assembly line in Monterrey, Mexico

In line with our strategy, marked by new business opportunities in propulsion applications as well as increased launch activity related to structural and electric vehicle components, we have made progress in the startup of the new battery housing business.

During the quarter, we continued to tap into cross-regional and cross-functional teams spanning design engineering, casting, joining and assembly, and secondary operations such as machining, among other areas to drive these efforts towards fruition.

We kicked off the construction of a dedicated assembly line at our manufacturing campus in Monterrey, Mexico. The battery housing consists of a structure of stamped and extruded aluminum parts, which we will be joining together using state-of-the-art robotic welding, gluing, and riveting technologies. This product represents our entry into fully assembled solutions for all-electric applications and this dedicated assembly line will be up and running in the second half of 2020.
